We have some updates to share with you

Since our inception in 2015, we’ve surpassed our initial goals of installing 75 EV charging stations by 2019. We’ve continued to invest in New Zealand’s electric future, added more than 200 rapid and hyper-rapid charging stations to the network, and delivered more than 954,975 charging sessions as of June 2022, all while working to make our nationwide network even more convenient and reliable.

ChargeNet has committed to installing an additional 400 charging points, which will include 50kW, 75kW, 150kW and 300kW rapid and hyper-rapid charging points, as we ramp up the expansion of our nationwide network of EV charging hubs.

The additional charging points, which will be installed at around locations throughout the country over the next 36 months, are a key part of ChargeNet’s growth strategy and will provide New Zealand motorists with significantly more charging capacity.

Moving forward, ChargeNet is focused on delivering EV charging hubs that will provide multiple charging points rather than the traditional single-charger sites. We envisage these sites will have at least 4 to 6 parking bays so drivers can access chargers on arrival, reducing congestion, and increasing vehicle throughput. Our expansion plans also include adding additional charging points at existing congested sites.

Our goal is to make life easier for our customers and remove the major barriers for people to switch to EVs, such as range anxiety and the frustration of waiting for a charger. With our additional sites, EV motorists will now be able to access charging hubs, with many sites capable of charging up to six electric vehicles simultaneously within 15 minutes and offering 400km of range.

We are committed to providing and maintaining a world-class EV charging network to keep New Zealand charging into the future. Our rollout of EV charging hubs across the country will ensure drivers are supported by reliable and convenient charging infrastructure, delivering the best possible driver experience. We hope you’ll join us on this journey.
